Description

Lake Naivasha, nestled amidst stunning landforms such as deep blue lakes, rich acacia forests, extinct volcanoes, waterfalls, imposing towers, and bottomless gorges, offers a breathtaking array of parks, lakes, and preserves that will leave you awe-struck.

One of the highlights of the area is the abundant birdlife, with over 100 species of hunters and grazers creating a constantly changing and vibrant parade of wildlife. Here, you will find an unparalleled variety of safaris, each offering a unique perspective on the diverse wildlife. Embark on a water safari to get close to the enchanting birdlife, then explore the landscape through hikes, bike rides, or even thrilling horseback rides, where you can encounter zebra, giraffe, and antelope. The possibilities for exploration and wildlife encounters are truly endless.

The Lake Naivasha Area is a treasure trove of surprises, awash with vibrant colors and nature’s bounty. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, a nature lover, or a seeker of adventure, there is something for everyone to discover and enjoy.

The parks, preserves, lakes, and attractions in the vicinity are conveniently located within a short drive from each other, creating a seamless and easily accessible experience.

Lake Naivasha Park itself is a high-altitude freshwater haven, characterized by its sparkling blue waters that provide a home for hippos and a myriad of other aquatic life. Embark on a water safari and revel in the company of graceful cormorants and pelicans, while observing zebras and antelopes grazing along the scenic shoreline. The surrounding area showcases abundant acacia trees and flourishing flower farms adorned with fragrant roses and vibrant carnations.

This remarkable lake serves as a vital watering hole for a diverse array of wildlife, including buffalos, elands, impalas, and waterbucks, offering ample opportunities for exhilarating game viewing. Keep your senses alert during game drives, as you may even have the thrilling encounter of spotting a leopard in its natural habitat.

Lake Naivasha holds a special place in history as the former dwelling of Joy Adamson, the renowned naturalist and author of the beloved book “Born Free.” Her incredible journey of raising Elsa, the lion cub, captured the hearts of people worldwide and led to an international best-selling novel and an award-winning movie.

When it comes to things to do in Naivasha, the options are plentiful. From Lake Naivasha, it’s a short and convenient drive, or perhaps a leisurely walk, to other exciting activities in the area.

One fascinating experience is the horseback riding safari at Sanctuary Farm, offering an unparalleled opportunity to intimately engage with the wildlife. Traverse the lush acacia forest, encountering majestic giraffes, graceful wildebeests, elegant impalas, and other fascinating creatures such as zebras, gazelles, and dik-diks. Your trusty horse, well-versed in navigating this terrain and acquainted with the animals, will bring you closer to the wildlife. Additionally, being on horseback provides a sense of camouflage, allowing for an incredibly immersive experience. This unforgettable horseback safari is tailored to cater to both novice and advanced riders, making it a perfect way to savor the wildlife wonders of Naivasha.

Another hidden gem awaits at Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, accessible through a nearby causeway from Sanctuary Farm. This privately-owned sanctuary is a haven for nature enthusiasts, yet less frequented compared to other parks. Take a leisurely stroll and enjoy a picturesque picnic amidst the melodious birdlife and the gentle grazing of wildlife. Alternatively, venture on a guided walking safari along the shoreline, marveling at the sight of pelicans and cormorants in their natural habitat. The sanctuary boasts an incredible density of animals per acre, including buffalos, zebras, giraffes, impalas, gazelles, and more. Keep in mind that the sanctuary is unfenced, allowing animals to freely move between the mainland and the sanctuary, creating a wonderful natural dynamic.

To conclude your day on a perfect note, ascend to the hilltop offering panoramic 360-degree views, encompassing Lake Naivasha and the neighboring Hell’s Gate Park. As the golden hues of the sunset wash over the grazing animals, you will cherish a truly magical Africa moment.

Lake Naivasha and its remarkable surroundings offer a dazzling tapestry of landscapes, wildlife encounters, and unforgettable experiences. With its diverse activities, abundant wildlife, and stunning natural beauty, Lake Naivasha is a destination that will capture your heart and leave you yearning for more.

An amazing week with Meektrails! James was our guide - professional, kind, and knowledgeable with a big smile welcoming us into each incredible experience! We followed his guidance through Amboseli, Naivasha, Nakuru, and Masai Mara and saw all big five up close while learning about Kenya, the parks, and the animals. Meektrails sorted everything and made our trip very easy and enjoyable. Great lodging, good food, and lovely people the whole way. Thank you James and team!

Great Safari with Meektrails

We recently completed a 7 night safari with Meektrails and had a great experience. Our tour was originally organized by Charles who was very responsive and able to customize our itinerary to our wishes and budget. We spent time in Maasai mara, Nakuru, Amboseli, and Tsavo and enjoyed all of them. The land cruiser was in excellent condition, with a pop-up roof, huge roll down windows, comfortable seats, and working power plugs. Our amazing guide was Anthony who really elevated the experience and allowed us to have an incredible Safari. From the start Anthony was so friendly and open, and made it clear his aim was to make our experience as great as possible. He was absolutely amazing at finding animals and getting us as close as possible to all different animals. We saw everything we had expected and more including cubs and young of nearly every species. He knows all the roads, routes, and small trails which allowed us to get very up close experiences. He also seems to know everyone, from other guides to park rangers which helped us learn about and find the location of animals. He was even also able to organize an early entrance to a couple of the parks to allow us to see sunrise in the park with the animals.Throughout the trip Anthony always double checked the planned schedule with us and offered many suggestions for changes or additions to the plan which really improved the trip. It's clear he has a lot of experience, and local knowledge which allowed him to adjust the itinerary in the best way possible. It's also clear he cares greatly for the local communities and organized for us to give our unused lunch packs to local children rather than seeing the food go to waste. We greatly appreciated our time with Anthony and thanks to him the safari exceeded all our expectations. As for Meektrails the booking process was responsive and easy, and everything was organized as discussed with no hitches. We would certainly organize another safari with Meektrails if returning to Kenya.

Unforgettable first safari

We chose MeekTrails for our first family Safari in Kenya and it was a great choice. We built with them a program that perfectly fitted to our group (with people of different ages 11-60). Our five day safari brought us to Amboseli, Nakuru Lake and Masai Mara Nationals Parks and our fantastic guide Njinu made us see a lot of wild wonderful animals, included the big five! He could always find the best spots that made our experience unforgettable. The Sopa Lodges we chose were clean and comfortable, with a lot of services and pools. We strongly recommend MeekTrails if you’re thinking about going to Kenya to make a safari to discover african wikdlife! 🐆🐅🐘🦒🦏🐃

A week we never will forget

First of all: a big Thank You to the whole team of Meek Trails. From the first contact with Diana until the last drop off at the hotel in Nairobi everything was perfect. Especially Philip: he was calm during driving, told us everything we should know about Africa, the animals, the plants and how to behave in Kenia. Everyday we felt that he was not only doing his job very well, but he was really loving the nature, the big animals and the small ones, specially the moorhens. He was patient, waited with us for the best moments, so we were very lucky to see all the animals we had hoped to see and were able to shoot beautiful photos. We saw the Big 5, the Ugliest 5 and many others and many birds. The days with Philip were full of seeing things and many laughters. The chosen hotels were all beautiful, the meals very good. At last: Thank you Meek Trails for that beautiful and unforgettable surprise at my birthday, when the whole team of the Zebra Camp and a Masai-Group were singing and dancing for me. Diana and Philip: Asante sani - we will miss you!
