Our guide, James, met us at the airport and was outstanding throughout the entire trip. He was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best safari experience possible. His knowledge of the wildlife, parks, and local culture was second to none, and he was always happy to answer our many questions. Thanks to James, we were able to see everything we had hoped for and more.This was our family’s first safari, but it certainly won’t be our last. Kenya exceeded all our expectations. The wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality of the Kenyan people have left a lasting impression on all of us. We have made memories that we will cherish forever.There were so many highlights, lunch in the Maasai Mara, a cycling safari through Hell’s Gate National Park, spotting wildlife at Lake Nakuru, a hippo cruise on Lake Naivasha, and a magical sunrise hot-air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara followed by breakfast in the bush to name a few.Thank you to everyone at Meektrails Safari, especially Esther and James, for making our dream safari a reality. Our safari with meektrails safari was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. We visited amboseli, lake Nakuru , lake naivasha and the Masai Mara. We booked with Esther who was very prompt with responses and eased all concerns and answered all the questions we had . She went above and beyond for us , she arranged with the first hotel to sing happy birthday to my dad with a cake for his 50th birthday which made his day ! And she also arranged for an upgrade in our last hotel and the hotel staff came out with a cake for my mam and dad to celebrate their marriage which was last month .As for our driver James , he was outstanding and made our trip as enjoyable as it was , he was easy going , very informative and knowledgeable, he is such a kind person and we are so sad to be leaving ! We (a group of three) went on the 6-day Private Safari at the end of May 2026, right before the peak season began. Everything was well organized, and other than liaising with Meektrails before the start of the trip, we barely had to lift a finger.The safari got started before we even arrived at the first destination. The drive from Nairobi to Amboseli already offered a glimpse of some of the wildlife we’d be seeing. Zebras, giraffes, and ostriches could be seen right off the highway. Our guide, Robin, had extensive knowledge of not just the animals, but also all the areas we drove through on the way.It only got better from there.Each excursion offered a unique experience - even if it was a destination we’d been to already. We watched the sun set over Mt. Kilimanjaro as herds of elephants made their way home for the evening, and came back the next morning to find dazzles of zebras and journeys of giraffes grazing on the vegetation. Each park and reserve offered different wildlife, and we were constantly seeing and learning new things. Across Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, Nakuru, and Maasai Mara we were introduced to beautiful birds, incredible beasts, and outstanding locals.What really brought the whole trip together was Robin. A good tour guide is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. Robin was all of that and more. For the entire 6 days we were together, he not only taught us about animals (can you tell the difference between a Thomson’s gazelle and a Grant’s gazelle?) and Kenya, but also taught us some Swahili and was eager to learn some Estonian. He’s a master of maneuvering the truck and positioning it in the best possible place for photos. But most importantly, he’s just a fantastic person. Three of us travelled to Kenya, but it felt like four friends on the most scenic road trip imaginable.If you’re even considering taking a trip to Kenya, do yourself a favor and go. We did a ten-day safari through Nairobi, Maasai Mara and Amboseli, it was truly the trip of a lifetime!The experience was incredible from start to finish. We were lucky enough to see the Big Five, along with countless other animals including cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, elephants and so many more. The wildlife sightings were amazing, and the landscapes across the different parks were varied which meant we never felt bored!Our guide for the majority of the trip, Anthony, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and always went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. He worked hard to find great wildlife sightings and made every day enjoyable and memorable. The same can be said for our guide in Amboseli, James, who met us at the airstrip following our flight from Maasai Mara. James was helpful and welcoming. We had a brilliant time in Amboseli due to his extensive knowledge about the area and wildlife.Throughout our time in Kenya, the company was extremely helpful. Our safari vehicle was very comfortable and regularly cleaned. Our travel via road and air was seamless and enjoyable. It was clear all staff wanted us to have the best safari experience possible.One thing we particularly liked was the flexibility of our drivers. If we wanted to go out and do a full-day game drive, that was facilitated. Likewise, if we were tired and fancied a half-day drive and then time to relax at the camp - this was also fine. That ‘hakuna matata’ attitude and the ‘pole pole’ pace when we wanted it is something I miss already!We had such an amazing time and would highly recommend this safari to anyone considering a trip to Kenya.
