We just completed an incredible 8 day Kenya safari with Meektrails. From the outset our tour consultant Diana was very attentive and answered our queries and was flexible to change the itinerary based on what we wanted to see. We covered Amboseli, Naivasha, Nakuru and Masai Mara. We landed right during the saba saba and Meektrails made sure we exited Nairobi pretty early in the morning to avoid road closures and for our safety. We were really fortunate to have George assigned as our guide and he was so knowledgeable and passionate about all topics. He didn’t feel like a guide, he felt like family. He was always making sure our 70yr old mum was comfortable everyday. He was able to answer all questions on wildlife, Masai culture, about the wildlife parks and about plant and bird species. He was enthusiastic to help us spot as many animals as possible and had the patience to wait as long as we wanted without rushing us to leave. We saw sooo many animals - Lion prides, cheetahs and a cheetah hunt too, elephant crossings, we were lucky to spot two elusive leopards, Rhino, the wildebeest other grazers, hyena, hippos, Masai and Nubian giraffe, dozens of different bird and plant species. The great migration was just beginning and we were lucky to witness that. The food in all the lodges was amazing and the land cruiser was so comfortable. I recently returned from a 8 day safari trip in Kenya with my family and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It was a girl’s trip with my mom and sister and I want to highlight the fact that we always felt safe. We visited Amboseli National Park, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru National Park and finally Maasai Mara. We were lucky enough to witness the Big Five. We also spotted prides of lions, cheetah hunting its prey and elephants crossing our path at sunset. Our guide George was fun-loving, sweet and extremely knowledgeable & passionate in not only pointing out the animals, but also sharing interesting facts about the animals, birds, and local culture. He also helped to locate animals which we wouldn’t have expected to see like hyenas, rhinos, warthogs, jackal, marabou stork and dik dik. He was always patient and would wait as long as we wanted to once we spotted an animal or bird. The accommodations were very good — comfortable, clean, and often right in the heart of nature. Sleeping to the sounds of hyenas at night was surreal (also safe as there were guards patrolling the area all night). We also had the chance to visit a local Maasai village, which was a humbling experience. The walking safari in Crescent island where we walked close to the zebras, giraffes and wildebeest was another wild experience. After a year of planning we finally landed in Kenya for my first Safari trip which turned out to be the most unique and amazing trip I’ve ever had! The company was very responsive with our questions and provided detailed information and itinerary. From the first morning pick-up at the hotel to the last day drop-off in the airport we experienced the company’s professional services by the staff especially our guide/driver Wawero Phillips. One of our luggages got lost by the airline, on the third day when we left Amboseli for Lake Navasha, Phillips drove us pre-dawn to avoid the potential risks from the area’s protest event and stopped by the airport helping us to pick up the delayed luggage. During the 9-day safari tour, Phillips used his wide knowledge, enthusiasm and sense of humour to make our trip so fulfilling leaving us numerous unforgettable memories. When he noticed that we were a little disappointed not able to see the cheetah and leopard after the first few days, he offered us a 5am early morning game drive to increase the chances to see more animals. It turned out to be an extremely worthwhile decision. Not only we saw active lions at the close distance in multiple areas and many other animals but also we watched beautiful sunrise with giraffes in Lake Nakuru which was a picture perfect for me. We eventually watched two cheetahs walking right towards our jeep in Masai Mara later. Phillips also cleaned up the jeep and made sure we got new water bottles every day. He was always there if we had any concerns about meals, washroom service, safety tips and local cultures. Although we saw every animal we wanted to see except for the leopard, we have no regret because we will leave it next time to see them! For the past five years, I had dreamed of visiting Kenya to see my favourite big cats in the wild—especially in the iconic Masai Mara. Throughout the months leading up to my trip Peris was always approachable, responsive and offered advice/tips but leaving any decisions to me. I can’t rate this experience with MeekTrails highly enough. I am very picky about tours because I like to design my own travel and don’t like being on someone else’s schedule. I had been to Kenya before, but never on safari, and I was concerned it would be a line of jeeps surrounding one exhausted animal. I was skeptical of the tour of the Maasai village, feeling like it could be kitschy or exploitative, and I was concerned about price. I’ve traveled to 32 countries and Meektrails is the best value for money experience I’ve ever had. Joseph, our guide, was brilliant, kind, thoughtful, patient and felt more like a friend than a guide by the end of our tour. One of the highlight memories was having nyama choma and ugali, the national dishes of Kenya, at a casual roadside stop, washed down with Tusker beer, while chatting about politics, animals, and all things Kenyan. We could not believe how many animals we saw in a single day, every animal I could have dreamed of, and we never felt rushed or exhausted. We had a picnic out in the middle of the Maasai Mara that felt like a dream - the food was delicious, we sat under an old tree identical to those we’d seen lions sit under, and the breeze rustled past us as we took in the incredible landscape. We got to move and rest at our own pace the entire time. Throughout the experience, the staff, especially Michael, Diana, Tom, were consummate professionals and unfailingly cheerful and accommodating. The best moment of the trip was when 40 staff at the beautiful campsite we stayed in celebrated my birthday, taking such care in so many small ways and truly making me feel like I was at a party with family despite being out on the road. 11/10. Just got back from a 6-day safari in Kenya with Meektrails and it was honestly one of the best trips I’ve ever taken. We saw so many animals – lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos… the list goes on. Every day felt like a new adventure. Our guide, Sammy, was incredible. Super friendly, really knowledgeable, and just made the whole experience so much fun. He always knew where to go and somehow managed to spot animals that we would’ve completely missed! Our 7-day safari with Meektrails Safaris and guide Phillip was spectacular! My daughter and I saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, lion cubs, hyenas, buffalos, hippos, rhinoceros, wildebeests, impalas, a cheetah, a leopard, and so much more. The accommodations at the Sopa Lodges were very nice and several of the properties had animals such as hippos and giraffes on the property. Even though we splurged and chose the Land cruiser option, which I highly recommend, I thought the cost was very fair. My Kenya trip in January was amazing and I got Perfect weather, Perfect itinerary and Perfect tour operator – Meektrails! We are a group of 5 and we booked a private safari tour to Kenya for 8 days. One travel solo from Ireland and four of us (2 couples) travel from Hong Kong to Kenya. I have been incredibly fortunate to find Meektrails and Charles, the travel agent, is helpful and patient. I started planning my trip in mid-August 2024 and asked many questions and many more for a total of 5 months. Charles is wonderful, he is efficient and service oriented, he able to response to my queries by email and whatsup diligently. Charles understands what I am looking for. Importantly, Charles makes sure I am comfortable to wire the deposit to secure the tour package. It is a big job to do payment for all 5 of us by bank transfer from Hong Kong and we did pay for the entire tour cost a week before we departure to Kenya. Charles acknowledges receipt of our payment promptly and the whole process is handled professionally, and I am very happy with his assistance. Besides Charles, we also have a fantastic tour guide: Bernard Muiru, he is an experienced professional safari guide, and he knows where to go and to ensure we able to view all these beautiful animals. Bernard especially acknowledgeable to birds, and we learnt so much from him. I can assure you that a good guide is very essential! We’re lucky to have Bernard and within the first 2 days of our Kenya visit, we had already seen the Big Five. Big thanks to Bernard’s effort and hard work! We visited the following parks: Tsavo West National Park, Amboseli National, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lake Naivasha and the popular Masai Mara National reserve. Well, for me the true remarkable time was when we see the African wild dogs! The wild dog has been listed as endangered on the IUCN Red list since 1990, and they may consist of fewer than 250 dogs on planet earth, but we saw more than 10 of them happily resting under the brushes. The Game-drives are a comfortable safari activity. We explore parks and game reserves by riding a 4x4 Landcruiser vehicle with a pop-up roof. Our tour guide/driver will come with us to drive for several hours in search of wildlife. We were able to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras or any wildlife, you will stop to see them and/or take photos from inside your vehicle or through the pop-up roof. We also got to sit under a tree to have a picnic in the middle of the park and for me, being a city girl, the feeling of being able to be with true nature is hard to describe. The Kenya safari vacation is a great lifetime experience. This trip gave me a wide spectrum of how free wildlife can be lived. I highly recommend traveler to go to Kenya and see for yourself, the gorgeous sunlight shinning on the tall grass in safari. Planning a two-week safari is a aunting task especially when you want to experience and “see” as much as you can. We needed someone who have the resources and the patience to manage our needs. Meektrails stood out right away as they took their time to understand our needs, at the same time advising and making alternative suggestions, in order to make the itinerary more feasible during the time we had. Whilst other companies provided us with various options, most of their proposals seemed “canned” and were not as flexible in changing the itinerary nor the available accommodations. We wanted a range of activities and a varied choice on accommodations. On both ends, Meektrails DELLIVERED!! They provided us with a wide range of choices in accommodations, from luxurious lodges and tented camps to authentic camps in the reserves. It was a surreal experience having the thrill of camping in the open park at the same time being pampered in luxurious settings. We went on some of the best parks that Kenya and Tanzania had to over – Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. The vehicle used was always clean and great condition. The guides were professional and very knowledgeable not only about the wildlife but also about the culture and history. Aside from the majestic game drives, we were able to go on a boat safari, a walking safari, and a bike safari – all wonderful additions to the adventure! We also had a magical experience visiting an authentic Masai village and got to meet and learn more about their rich and vibrant culture and community. In Tanzania, we visited a local market in Arusha (we were one of only a handful of tourists). Again, it was such a fulfilling experience to meet and learn about the local culture! Our holiday ended with a relaxing 3 days on the beach in Zanzibar! Meektrails worked well with their counterparts in Tanzania and Zanzibar. They were professional, authentic, and genuine - regularly checking in on us to make sure everything was going well. It was comforting to know that we were on their watch during the entire holiday! They showed flexibility and quick action to accommodate us. Two examples come to mind: • Our flight from Zanzibar back to Nairobi was changed by the airline without informing us nor Meektrails (apparently not unusual for this airline). Meektrails went to work immediately (already late evening) and got us on another flight. Since the flight was much earlier than the original, we had 18 hours in Nairobi before our flight back home. For this, they provided us with a room in a fabulous hotel near the airport!! • Our car got stuck on the way to the airport. Within 20 minutes, a replacement car came to pick up and continue the journey. All this at 2:30 in the morning in Zanzibar! We had a fantastic 10 day safari with Meektrails. Amboseli, Ol Pejeta, Samburu, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and finished off in the Masai Mara. The whole process was very organised and slick from start to finish, from the initial contact and booking through the pickup drop off and safari itself. Accommodation was a really high standard and we had a dedicated vehicle and guide just for the two of us. Our guide Joseph was absolutely brilliant, would definitely recommend him. We had a fantastic experience with Meektrails. Our 7 nights/8 days safari tour was very well organised, and our guide Peter went above and beyond to make sure we saw as many animals as possible and had an exciting adventure in Kenya. I shouldn’t even give 1 star for such a terrible experience in booking a safari with them. We asked for 6N/7D in June 2025 . I went for negotiating based on their exorbitant rates . Their staff discussed with their boss and quoted 1250 dollars just 2 days before for group of 3 with mara maisha(3N) , avion court hotel (1N) at naivasha and Kibo safari (2N) at amboselli including giraffe Center at nairobi and geo spa. Considering this as a good deal, we planned to book our flights from Germany . But today they say there is a system error and actual price is 2300 dollars pp for group of 3 . If the guy has just checked in system and gave me the price 2 days before, I would have considered their reason. But after discussing with his boss several times, he quoted the price for 1250 dollars and today he changed to 2300$ . I seriously wonder how his boss is able to give acceptance for 1250 dollars 2 days before and now his staff says that was a system error. What kinda company they are running ? Please don’t believe this safari operator since they are not delivering safari operator. They will say they will deliver best experience in safari . But in the end they cheat is like this . I can’t even begin to explain the amazing experience we had with Meektrails! From booking to the end of the safari, everything was taken care of. They were accommodating, responsive and overall such a kind group of people! We had the best private tour with them and our guide was Gideon. Gideon was so patient, kind and knowledgeable! He made sure we got our photography shots!! There is nothing to worry about during our safari adventure because all things were taken care of.
