Safari Accommodation Overview
If you’re drawn to remote wilderness, rare species, and a quieter atmosphere than the busy southern safari circuits, Samburu Simba Lodge is a solid pick. The lodge is arranged in villa-style buildings (rock stone-walled). Rooms are en-suite, decorated in traditional Kenyan style, and many have balconies giving direct views over the plains and surrounding wilderness.
This lodge is in an area known for dry Savannah, acacias, and peculiar wildlife that differ from the classic southern Kenya reserves. Expect to see some of Kenya’s more rare and region-specific species — the so-called “Samburu Special Five”: the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk (giraffe-gazelle) — plus elephants.
After a hot and dusty day, the pool and bar provide welcome relief. A bush dinner under stars or a sunset cocktail by the pool can make your stay here more exciting.
